Daikin announces its Pharmaceuticals and Medicines Transport Solutions, the most comprehensive range of GDP compliant van and light truck refrigeration units for inner-city and last-mile delivery.

Hubbard’s range of van and light truck refrigeration units compliant with GDP (Good Distribution Practices) includes under-chassis, nose-mount and roof-mount single and multi-temp units.

Daikin Transport Refrigeration, a subsidiary of Daikin Industries Limited, a global leader and owner of Hubbard Products, present in more than 150 countries, shaping the future of heating, cooling, ventilation and refrigeration systems, offers GDP compliant units for all inner-city and short distance pharmaceutical and medicines distribution in the UK.

Evren Akçora, Senior Manager, Transport Refrigeration Daikin Europe, said “Our Hubbard range of GDP compliant transport refrigeration units are the most comprehensive, meeting the diverse requirements for pharmaceutical and medicines distribution in inner cities. We are the only transport refrigeration provider who offers a range, including under-chassis (Invisible), nose-mount (Zero and SFZ) and roof-mount (Zero), single and multi-temp GDP compliant direct-drive van and light truck units.”

With the current pandemic and critical vaccination distribution demands aside, there is increasing pressure on the safe and efficient delivery of pharmaceutical products and medicines to the population in our growing cities.

The UK’s Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency, Good Distribution Practice Guidelines (GDP guidelines) of Medicinal Products for Human Use describes the minimum standards of good distribution practice (GDP). It requires that medicines are obtained from the licensed supply chain and are consistently stored, transported and handled under suitable conditions, as required by the MA or product specification. GDP compliance ensures that medicines in the supply chain are authorised in accordance with MHRA and European Union legislation regarding storage and condition, including precise temperature maintenance throughout transport.

The following units in the Hubbard range successfully passed Installation Qualification (IQ), Operational Qualification (OQ), and Performance Qualification (PQ) protocols including thermal mapping and real-life tests receiving GDP compliance from an independent certifying company:

The Invisible unit, SFZ2009 (single-temp) is a direct-drive GDP compliant unit installed beneath the chassis of the vehicle preserving the aesthetics, original height and aerodynamics while reducing bodywork.

Two direct-drive Zero units, both in nose-mount and roof-mount configurations, the Z250 and Z380 offering single and multi-temp solutions that provide excellent flexibility for light commercial vehicles thanks to its easy installation and serviceability as well as an ultra-thin evaporator installed in the cargo compartment to maximise cargo volume.

The SFZ238 nose-mounted unit is a robust direct-drive solution for the light truck range, and a proven design optimized for energy efficiency, low noise, and easy-to-service transport of temperature-controlled goods in medium-sized boxes.

Alby Wilson, Transport Business Unit Manager, Hubbard Products, comments “Hubbard now offers GDP compliant units covering the broadest list of vehicle types and configurations for inner city and short to medium distance pharmaceutical and medicine distribution. We have a rich innovation pipeline that includes electric-driven GDP compliant refrigeration units, a full suite of telematics solutions, including specific pharmaceutical and medicine audit trail applications as well as product innovations addressing the future needs of our customers in lowering their total cost of ownership.”

The complete range of Hubbard GDP compliant solutions bring reliable and efficient options to the market, configured to customer needs, and supported with a service network available 24/7 – lowering the total cost of ownership in this critical market segment.

This announcement builds on the recent investments Daikin Transport Refrigeration has made, bolstering its portfolio and capacity and supports the company’s goal to provide flexible tailor-made solutions, including for pharmaceutical and medicine distribution.
