KFF deliver frozen, fresh & store cupboard supplies to the Horeca sector predominantly across the south of England but also servicing key account outlets as far north as the midlands. Operating from two distribution centres Aylesford, Kent and Witney, Oxfordshire its fleet of 71 insulated vehicles makes 240-mile daily deliveries with twin compartment bodies chilling to between 2°C and 6°C and freezing down to -18°C with approximately 20 door openings per route, six days per week.
Established in 1961, KFF has recently developed its range of products, following extensive market research and collaboration with its customers, from frozen, chilled and ambient to now including a fresh range of fruit, vegetables, meat and from Summer 2021, fresh fish. KFF will also be launching a range of artisan products servicing the high-end hospitality sector.
To ensure the ongoing high-quality of these products KFF has invested in 18 new Iveco vehicles with twin compartment bodies by Solomon Commercials. The refrigeration units chosen by KFF are Hubbard Z380SBAT multi-temp units.
Philip White, Managing Director KFF says: “After much consultation with our key customers and suppliers, developing new offerings and meeting the needs and expectations of our customers is a critical part of our business philosophy. Delivering products that are the cornerstones of our customers’ offerings, promptly and in the finest condition possible is the key to our success. The choice and specification of refrigeration units had to match our Corporate and Social Responsibility commitment to reduce our carbon footprint.”
The Hubbard Z380SBAT (max power 3.9 kW and cell volume max 28 m³) meets all the KFF performance needs.
Placed in the engine compartment of the vehicle and connected to it, the first compressor guarantees the functioning of the machine in “road mode” while the mains compressor is mounted under the body with an innovative design of the condensing unit and is powered by an external electrical source when the van is parked.
The Z380S multi-temperature model is designed to meet the needs of transporting products in multiple compartments and at different temperatures.
The ultra-thin evaporator (max 19.4 cm) is placed directly on the ceiling of the cell avoiding the need to reduce the load volume.
The operation, performance and hot gas defrosting of the zer0° models are controllable and modifiable through a practical control unit situated in the cabin with a user interface that guarantees the product is efficiently kept at precisely the right temperature for the entire duration of the trip.
Z380 Multi and Z380 Multi (Narrow Evap) models are designed to meet the modern needs of low environmental impact refrigeration.
These units feature additional evaporators enabling the transport of products with different temperature requirements in separate zones, available in multiple configurations to adapt to a wide range of applications.
