The Thome Group has won the “Innovation in Technology and Systems” award during the MPA Singapore Safety@Sea awards ceremony held at the Marina Mandarin hotel on 21st June 2018.
The awards ceremony was the culmination of MPA Singapore’s annual Safety@Sea week designed to raise awareness and exchange views on safety within the international maritime community.
The judging panel was made up of members from the National Maritime Safety at Sea Council (NMSSC) who were impressed with Thome Group’s investment in a new Operations Hub at its head office.
The hub’s state-of-the-art facilities enables situational awareness for both duty-personnel and Thome’s crisis teams, providing high tech systems allowing remote tracking of individual ships in the fleet, passage planning, security risk assessment, weather routing, video conferencing, integrated vessel management system (NAU) implementation, and individual on-board CCTV remote monitoring by the hub.
“Thome Group is proud to be recognized as a leader in innovation,” said Claes Eek Thorstensen, President and CCO of the Thome Group.
“The new Operations Hub means that we now have an even closer control of our managed fleet and in times of emergency we can react much more quickly and get faster and more accurate information about the situation in real time, allowing our crisis teams to make informed decisions on how to resolve any issues,” he continued.
The award was presented to Mr. Thorstensen by Mr. Michael Poon, Vice Chair NMSSC.
